Time to Get to Work
Wednesday, January 4, 2012
Hello Everyone from
Guatemala.
Well now that the Holiday
season is over I am receiving more and more people responding
to my last News Letter. To be honest we were wondering if we
were meant to keep on doing the work here in Guatemala or was
it time to throw in the towel.
Thanks to so many of you
who sent us donations and letters telling us how you were
praying for us and that we needed to keep helping the people
who do not have anyone else to help them, we were very
encouraged.
Also many people have
written to me saying "Bryan I am putting a team together so
don't give up".
So our prayer was God What do we do?
It appears that our work
is not over. With the response I have received we have decided
to keep up the good fight. Keep on Keeping on. In other
words,
"Let's get the Job done".
So I just wanted to send
out a short News letter saying THANK YOU!. We got our answer
and so if you would like to put a team together and come down,
please feel free to contact me or go to my web site at : www.Junglemedicmissions.org and
look at the info tab that
say's "TEAM INFO".
If there is any way we can help you let us know
OK?
On an other note: We are
coming to the States in February for my son's wedding and to
speak at some churches and groups interested in coming to
Guatemala. We will be from Miami to Atlanta then Alabama then
Indiana then North Carolina and then back to Miami FL. We will
be there from Feb 12 to the 22nd. If you would like us to come
and speak or do a short presentation to your group and we can
get to you please feel free to contact me and let's see if we
can get together.
( As long as you have a Chinese Buffet in your
town).
However we are also bringing my wife Marleni's sister Mari
with us. Mari lives in a stick built shack along the river.
Her and her husband have no electricity or plumbing. They are
extremely poor but you will not find better people or more
giving people on this earth. They fish and raise chicken's
for income to survive. This year they raised a turkey. They
could have sold it for 300 Quetzales or $40.00 which for them
is a months pay. They came to our house on Christmas and
brought us the turkey to eat. I am telling you I almost could
not take it. I knew how much this cost but they gave it from
their heart and so we had turkey for Christmas.
Mari has a very unstable
diabetic condition. She has almost died several times before I
could get down river at 1:00am to get her insulin.
So we want to
bring her
with us to the States and get her help with a Dr friend of
mine in Atlanta. He wants to help her for free!
Mari has never even seen a
grocery store let alone a Wal-Mart or an all you can eat
Chinese Buffet. So we want to bring her with us and get her
the help she needs and also just to show her my country and
let she that the things I tell her about the United States are
true. She can't believe we have cement roads with 6 lanes in
Atlanta for example.
But she does not have
enough money to buy a bus ticket and we are maxed out just
buying airline tickets to come home for 2 weeks.
So many people who have
come here on mission trips have seem Mari cooking and cleaning
from 4:30 each morning until 8:00 at night when she cannot
stand anymore and goes to bed. They have said to me Bryan if
you ever come to the States and can bring Mari with you and
Marleni we would like to help.
So if any of you would
like to help her to come to the States her ticket for airfare
is $ 406.00 round trip on Spirit Airlines from here.
If you would like to help
her you can send the money to Missionary Companion Ministries
(just put in a note for Mari ) and you will get a tax
deduction and we will buy her ticket.
If we get extra we will
buy her some clothes and get her medicines.
So again I just wanted to
say thank you to all of you who responded with setting up
teams and donations for helping us keep helping.
Hope you all have
a Wonderful 2012!!!
In His Service,
Bryan & Marleni
Buchanan
