Remember the cartoon of the giant dog running as fast as he can and the leash is behind him pulling a skinny lady in the wind and she can do nothing but hang on? Well that is how it has been around here lately, and today is the first day in weeks that I have been able to sit down and even think. But God is doing so much here. All I can do is hang on. Let me share some the things we have been doing. Uh, but before I do, I need to show you this warning:

Graphic Contents below, proceed at your own risk!

Ok, there, that is over with and now we can get on with the newsletter. (I'm going to talk about the ER). We are almost done with the finishing work on the dorm and things are really coming together well. We have had a group of four young ladies from Charlotte here for about 3 weeks now and they have been a tremendous help to us in organizing and cleaning. They also helped in taking care of the kids when Riechelle and I had to go into the city to get teams or supplies. Since they could watch the kids Riechelle and I had a night off at a hotel in Antigua alone, yes alone, for the first time in a long time and she wanted to be romantic. I of course only wanted to pray and hold a Bible study, but sometimes it is better to obey than sacrifice huh? (wink, wink)

As most of you know, for the past 4 years we have been suturing people together and delivering babies etc. on our kitchen table in our rental home. Now we have a clean Emergency Room and had hoped to have it open by the 1st of September. However, it was not ready, so when the team from Burnsville, NC got here, they thought all they would have to do was help us get the ER ready. Little did they know that it would be used day and night from when they got here until they left.

They thought they could come here and sleep at night, and maybe sleep in, he he he!

We had to get up the next morning and go see patients in the remote villages all day in the heat.

Praying before the clinic for Gods wisdom to help these people.

This team worked not only on patients and emergencies but they had the skills to do everything else we needed. For example, we needed our gas stove hooked up and two of the team members were former gas company technicians. It still amazes me how God supplies people with the specific skills and talents needed right when we need them. Coincidence? I don’t think so!

They had to treat kids who have no medical clinic to go to, and had some bad skin conditions, then get home and re-stock the bus and hit the sack and get good a nights sleep right? Uh, well, who had this so called great idea to help people with emergencies 24/7?

Even Debora has to help, when we're short-handed, like at 3:00 am

Luckily the girls were here when this lady needed help delivering a baby, but this time she had enough time to go by ambulance to the hospital for complications.

I want to share something with you. Some of us think, deep down in our hearts, that if we just work hard enough or if we just live without sin enough that God will somehow love us more or will accept us. But you and I both know, He loves us not for our works, but because He is God. We don’t have to work for His love do we? I say this because some people read my newsletters and say, "I wish I were there doing all those fun things," but you know what? God loves you and will use you wherever you are. He will give you the desire of your heart if it is to serve Him.

Some of you folks are coming down here next year to help us and we appreciate it. But I want to let all of you that have helped us this year with so many things know how much we appreciate your help. You and I both know we could never do this on our own could we? The other night I looked at the bus and remembered Lawrence and Olga and all the people who helped us get that bus here that we use so much. The people who came and worked on our dorm and went into the jungle to give medical treatment to people who live in dirt floor shacks. It was hot and muggy with insects, but you never complained. I want to thank the people who sent us money to get our boat fixed so we could go down-river to the village that had never had anyone care for them. The people who took time off from their job and instead of going to the Bahamas on a cruise came here to give out worm medicine to the little girl in the picture below as well as may other children.

I know that it is good to go to church and worship the Lord, but somehow I feel like when you come here and leave your family and friends and use the money to buy an airline ticket that you could have paid on a hundred other priorities in your lives, and give it to help this little girl... Well, I just gotta believe God smiles and says; "That’s my boy!" or "That’s my girl!"

All I can really say to all of you is, "Thank You!" What you have done for Riechelle and I and the kids is more than I can write in this letter. I looked out of the top of the dorm and saw this (see picture below). I can’t give you all much, but I wanted to just share God giving you all a wink from Guatemala!

God's Blessing to you,
In His Service,

Bryan & Riechelle
